Walking on the Ice in Heels

The most common question I get…. “How do you walk on the ice in those heels?!” There are no spikes, no stickies, no grippers, it’s just a little bit of shuffling, a little bit of core work and a whole lot of luck.

I ALWAYS wear heels that are comfortable, well mostly comfortable. If you don’t feel confident walking in heels because they’re tearing your feet up, chances are you look like a stiff barbie doll walking down the street. Just find some that you like and stick with those!

Below I've listed a few of my favorite places to find heels. I've also noted some of the current sales and offers each site has!

There’s been a few near disasters but luckily (Knock on wood) I’ve always done alright out there. When I walk out onto the ice it’s immediately after the first or second period, therefore the ice has NOT been freshly zambonied (Is that even a word?) The guys have been skating for 20 minutes out there making it much less slippery.

Don’t get me wrong, it took me 2 and a half seasons before I was ever bold enough to walk out in anything but flats. Just like anything else in life, sometimes you just gotta go for it. If you fail (in this case, eat it and end up on youtube) then so be it, at least it’s a good story.
