Ocean Prime - The Perfect Night Out
Let me start by saying, I LOVEEEE a good steakhouse. Crabcakes, Steak, Fish and Wine….truly what more is there in life?! Ocean Prime is a must-visit in Downtown Denver if you’re craving any of the above! Located in the heart of LoDo on Larimer Square, Ocean Prime has a fun and beautiful vibe! On top of the incredible and delicious food, the staff went above and beyond to make dinner an amazing experience. I’m really big on customer service and believe that it can make or break a dining experience. Ocean Prime’s staff absolutely nailed it. Prepare yourself to drool through the remainder of this blog post!
Wine & Drinks
My FAVORITE part of the meal right here! Ocean Prime is known for their incredible cocktails and their Wine Spectator-honored wine list. I was SO tempted to try their classic Berries & Bubbles cocktail consisting of citrus vodka, marinated berries, fresh lemon, Domaine Chandon Brut and dry ice smoke. I ended up sticking with my tried and true with my Rosé! It’s me after all, and the start of summer always calls for a crisp, cool glass of Rosé.
There’s nothing like a French Rosé on a warm summer evening. I ordered a glass of the 2019 Mathilde Chapoutier “Grand Ferrage” from Provence, France. It was light, zippy and so enjoyable. It paired perfectly with the crabcake and fish!!
I’m not a big beer person but my dinner date ordered a Dry Docks Apricot Blonde Ale. He seemed happy so I’ll assume it was delicious!
Appetizers
There’s nothing like a delicious crabcake from a steakhouse. I could eat them everyday! Let me tell you, Ocean Prime does it the RIGHT way!! With the crab cake they include kale, pickled fennel and a horseradish mustard aioli.
The shrimp saute dish was out of this world!! I would order this again in a heartbeat. The tabasco cream sauce was soooo good. They also serve it with slices of baguette bread and melted cheese on top…yum.
Dinner
My dinner date ordered a 16 oz Ribeye with Bernaise sauce and it looked SO delicious. You just can’t go wrong with a steak option from Ocean Prime. They serve prime cuts of steak, my favorite being the filet mignon!
I went with the Chilean Sea Bass which included Whipped Potatoes and a Champagne Truffle Sauce. The fish was cooked perfectly. The whipped potatoes had a beautiful texture mixed in with the champagne truffle sauce to give it a tang. I would order this dish 100x over again!
Sides
I love brussel sprouts. I don’t know if I’m in the same camp as everyone else on that front, but the side of roasted brussel sprouts from Ocean Prime had a delicious balsamic glaze on top and were roasted to perfection!
The other side we ordered was smoked gouda tater tots….Oh my gosh..these were out of this world. If you go to Ocean Prime and order nothing else, get these. You won’t be sorry. Pretty sure I could eat these every day for the rest of my life. They were gooey, cheesy and delicious on the inside, then crispy on the outside. I want more now writing about them!!
Ocean Prime is an award-winning Cameron Mitchell Restaurant with an upscale lounge feel. The nationally-acclaimed Ocean Prime is an overall experience. Not only is their atmosphere top of the town, but they have an impressive menu of seafood and prime cuts of steak, signature cocktails, a Wine Spectator-honored wine list. The best part about a night out at Ocean Prime comes in the form of hospitality. From the moment you walk through the beautiful glass doors, the staff is friendly, kind and welcoming. Our waitress was truly one of the best I’ve had out to dinner! She was thoughtful, fun and extremely knowledgeable.
After-Dinner Port
I’m such a sucker for port!! We split a glass of the 20 year tawny from Taylor Fladgate. It was such a perfect after-dinner treat. If you’ve never tried Port, I highly recommend it. It has this rich, beautiful, smoky caramel flavor profile.
Ocean Prime is not just for date night either!! I was fortunate enough to have my amazing friend tag along. So bring your family, bring your friends, bring a date, go by yourself and sit at the bar! As long as you’re sitting in Ocean Prime enjoying their ambience and food…you’ll be a happy camper!!
Father’s Day
Keep in mind that Ocean Prime is open from 11am - 3pm this Father’s Day for a special brunch! Then they’re open their normal hours until 8pm with their dinner menu (dine in OR carryout!!) So make sure you treat Dad to a meal that he deserves!
