Visit Durango - Part 2 - Food Recs
I love checking out new food spots in a town I haven’t been to! I received a few recommendations for the area. I will say that the snow storm slightly hindered us from our planned Valentine’s Day dinner in town but we ended up at a great, unexpected restaurant! Details on the spots we checked out below:
Definitely the most popular spot in Durango. A brewery with a low-key vibe, great menu and best of all they offer the option to join their waitlist ahead of time <— I don’t know why restaurants don’t do this more often! So convenient especially since we were staying out of town and could plan our arrival time. I ordered the Indonesian Peanut Salad and it was delicious!!
Another top rated restaurant to check out in Downtown Durango. It’s a bit of a hole in the wall and has great breakfast! Think old school diner style that I would expect to see on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. I always struggle to find a good spot for breakfast considering I don’t like eggs. Oscar’s is known for their deep-fried French Toast…yum.
Anyone who’s spending the day skiing/snowboarding at Purgatory Ski Resort should check out the Nugget Mountain Bar. It’s a super chilled out vibe with a small bar inside and food truck out back. The Food Truck is called: BackCountry Gourmet.
We ended up here on Valentine’s Day Night simply because a massive snow storm rolled through and we really couldn’t drive much further than this spot. Luckily due to the snow storm a few spots opened up (they had been fully booked). Richie had the pasta special and it was delicious!! My pizza was a great flavor but needed a few more minutes in the oven.
Other recommended spots that we didn’t check out:
James Ranch Market <— Recommended for a lunch spot.
Eolus <—Recommended for a nicer dinner restaurant.
636 Main <—Nice date night spot.
