Game Night Outfit - Hurricanes v. Avalanche - 11/2/17

This game was about much more than hockey...

Thursday night was our Hockey Fights Cancer game. Though this post does cover what I wore for our game night, it's about so much more than just an outfit.

Everyone is affected one way or another by this terrible disease. On Thursday night we honored many brave individuals who have fought or are currently fighting cancer. I'm so grateful for each individual who let us share their story.

I Fight For

As part of our Hockey Fights Cancer night, our team, employees and fans wrote down who we fight for. I fight for my grandfather who passed away from lung cancer when I was younger and for Mallory Sauer who passed away in May after a long battle with metastatic melanoma. Many of you bloggers know exactly who Mallory was. She was beautiful, inspiring, driven and most of all she was incredibly strong. I was not close with Mallory but she inspired me (and continues to inspire me) more than she would ever know. I encourage you to read her story:

A Casual Look for a Good Cause

As I said before, Thursday night's game against the Carolina Hurricanes was about so much more than just a hockey game. My outfit was much more casual than I'm used to wearing. Our community relations department was so kind to give me a Hockey Fights Cancer t-shirt and a purple scarf to wear.

I paired this look with my favorite camo jeans from Sneak Peek. Their website is for wholesale accounts only but I found this pair at my local TJ Maxx. I've also seen the Sneak Peek line at

Inspyre Boutique

!

The shoes were some oldies but goodies from

Steve Madden

. I love zippers as an accent on any accessory. Plus, who doesn't love a good pair of black heels? They're just like a little black dress, you need a few in your wardrobe.

As per usual, I was wearing my favorite

mini heart diamond necklace

 from

Hurdle's Jewelry

. Aside from my necklace it was minimal bling for this game.

My favorite accessory of this outfit was my new army green Avalanche hat. I got this at the Altitude Authentics store at Pepsi Center for just $22!! If you're a huge Avs fan but can't make it to Pepsi Center, they have a few great ones on their

website

 as well.

Be Kind

Though it was a casual look, I was so excited to write this "Game Night Outfit" post. It's about much more than a hockey game, or an outfit, or a blog post. I love that the organization I work for dedicates a game night to honoring those who have fought the hardest battle of their lives and many who have lost their lives fighting this disease.

Never forget to be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about.
