Game Night Outfit - Avs v. San Jose - 1/16/20
This Game Night Outfit is a little different than the usual! First things first, we beat the Sharks 4 - 0, that just needs to be said.
The Avs have a Stadium Series game coming up in February. If you read my blog for the style content versus the hockey info, let me tell you how cool these games are. It’s an outdoor hockey game played in a venue that traditionally doesn’t host a hockey rink. In our case it’s at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. The last one that I was fortunate to take part in was held at Coors Field just down the street from Pepsi Center. We played the Red Wings and had an Alumni game the night before, that was the most incredible experience to watch. As a Colorado native I grew up watching the Avs and to see the old teams back together again on the ice was so cool. Unfortunately, no goaltender fights this time around (If you don’t know what I’m talking about just search “Roy Avs Fight” on youtube!
Stadium Series Jersey
Anyway, back to the Game Night Outfit talk. We were previewing the new Stadium Series jersey for this game. Let me tell you, I rarely get to wear casual outfits for the Avs, but this was blissful. I paired it with a gray hoodie and loved how it turned out!! There was some mixed feeling about the new jersey design, but I absolutely love it!! I received so many compliments on the jersey and love the design. The steep “A” logo in white represents the chapel down at the Air Force Academy. I love that they incorporated the design with the location of the game.
For reference I’m wearing the women’s Fanatics jersey in a size medium. You can shop them here:
Jeans
Truth be told, I pay extra for holes in my jeans. Did your parents ever say that to you?? I have very few pairs of denim that don’t feature a distressed look. Luckily I had this pair to rock with the jersey. I felt like the holes are a little messy, even though I was in a casual look for the game, I didn’t want to be unprofessional. The key to any denim is finding a good color wash that suits your skin tone and outfit. I love this greenish wash tone that I have on these jeans. It incorporates a darker color along with a brownish-green color which can pair well with so many outfits. These also have zippers at the bottom, and if you read my last blog post, you know that i’m a fan of the zippers!
Adidas Sneakers
I’m obsessed with wedge sneakers. These adidas wedge sneakers are worn few and far between. Being that they’re all white I have to keep them in good condition! I’m a firm believer in wearing and enjoying your stuff. I like to keep things clean but there’s no sense in them sitting on the shelves. These exact ones are from a few years ago, but I have tagged some similar styles and my favorite wedge sneakers below.
Grey Hoodie
Since the jersey was a size medium I knew I had a little room underneath but I didn’t want to make it look bulky. Instead of opting for a traditional sweatshirt hoodie, I found a gray long sleeve with a hood which was perfect and lightweight underneath the jersey. I also like that this hoodie had different colored drawstrings for the hood, the lighter colored paired nicely with the white on the jersey. I like to accent colors with other pieces of the outfit (i.e. the jersey and shoes).
Jewels
The usual suspects were in play for me during this game. I’d say the star of the jewels was my big hoop earrings. It’s so hard for me to deviate from those, one day maybe…one day.
Hair
I decided to go with a different style for this game to pair with the casual look. The top bun is something I haven’t been able to rock as of recent. I miss my extensions so much for this reason. I love a good top bun and up until a few weeks ago my hair wasn’t quite long enough to pull off. I’m so excited that I’m finally able to put it up. The key to a good top bun is to brush the hair into the pony tail first and tie it off then do the bun secondly. If you try to do it all in one hair tie it typically won’t hold as well.
