5 Ideas To Feel Productive + Make Money During Quarantine!

This all feels like a weird groundhog day over, and over, and over again. I’ve been working on a few things to help me feel productive during this time of quarantine that I wanted to share with you all. I hope this helps you all too!

1. Read a Book

I’ve been all about reading since I’ve been at home. I just finished up The Woman in Cabin 10. Anyone else read that yet? It was slow to begin but once I was about a third of the way through I was hooked!! I’m now reading You Are a Badass, and I’m SOOOO motivated! If I could recommend any book in the world, it would be this one. I’ve never had so many chapters resonate with me as they do and help me see my daily life through a different (and more productive) lens.

I personally like to alternate between “fiction” books and “self-help” or “motivation” books. It keeps me engaged in reading. Over the summer I was reading a lot of motivational books and got really burned out. I recommend switching it up to keep yourself from book burn out.

When you’re all done you can sell your book too! It may only be for a little bit, but hey, anything helps right now!

2. Re-Decorate / Clean Your Home

It’s nice to do a deep clean of your home when you have the time (most of us do right now!) I find that if I allot myself an hour or two hours and solely focus on that task I can get so much done. This also helps me to avoid getting distracted.

Once you’ve deep cleaned start re-decorating your home. How many times have you dreamed up certain spaces in your home, or even seen inspiration online? Now is the time!! Order some new decor, try new things! You can always return and/or re-design!!

I put together a few of my favorite home decor items from Amazon. Click the photo below to check out the specifics on my favorite picks!

3. Sell Your Clothes & Accessories!

I’ve been a fan of Poshmark for a long time and sold a TON of clothes through there! It’s such an easy way to make money during this craziness all from the comfort of your own home. You just take a few photos of your pieces post them and sell, sell, sell!! As in any social atmosphere, the more you participate in the community (liking, following and sharing others clothes posts), the more people will engage with you and check out your closet!

You can also check out my closet here, I’ve been uploading more clothes, shoes and accessories every single day!

4. Workout

This can be tough if you’re not able to motivate yourself in your own living room (cough, cough, looking at you Nicole) but there are SO many options available to us now to make this super easy!

My personal favorite on-demand video workouts are through a company called Obé Fitness. I’ve been taking the barre classes and dance hiit classes primarily, but I’ve found a few stretch classes too that we’re amazing! Some of the stretch classes have been great considering my tense muscles as of late…something to do with the world craziness.

Obé offers a week for free then if you use my code: you’ll receive 30% off your first month!

There are also a ton of different workout ideas on Pinterest or Instagram too!

For my more advanced fitness gurus out there, do your own workout Zoom class on a donation basis! If you’re going to workout anyway and already have your own program, you might as well offer it up for others to jump in and maybe even make some bucks while you’re at it!

5. Learn to Cook a New Recipe

What better time than now to learn how to cook with the ingredients you have in your pantry?? I’ve had a lot of luck on Pinterest. I put the main ingredient I want to use into the search title then add “recipe” or “healthy recipe” and see what pops up! PInterest tends to have a lot of photos associated with the posts which makes them more enjoyable to scroll through (though my recipes hardly ever turn out looking the same, they’re normally delicious!)

I’ve also been finding a lot of recipes in cookbooks to play around with. Below are a few of my favorite cook books:

Feeling really inspired and confident in your chef abilities? Put together a program for your neighborhood where you cook for them or their families! I had a girl in my old apartment building that started her own business this way. She’d offer certain meals that you could sign up for based on her ingredient availability. She made a killing on this project and her food was delish!

I hope you find these ideas motivating and helpful during this crazy time! Wishing everyone health, safety and happiness!
